Crochet Hat

My Nana taught me to crochet when I was a little girl, and I made a few things now and then but never actually from a pattern.

{Crochet patterns scared me.}

I just never got the hang of how to read them.

Until last year. When I was out on maternity leave I decided to purchase some patterns and go for it! (Before, I would watch a you tube video and write down what the person was doing in my own 'language'.)

And to my surprise working from a pattern was much easier than I thought it would be!

One of my favorite hats I have made for my daughter is from a pattern I purchased from Speckled Frog Crochet on Etsy.

I love the big flower! SO CUTE! And I always get a ton of compliments on this hat and people are shocked when I say I made it myself! It is a gorgeous hat!

I love the detail of the white ribbon wrapped around the bottom

See how cute it is on?!?

I have also made one with a purple flower as a gift for a friend's daughter!

So my advice- try a pattern if you haven't already! They seem scary at first, but are so easy to read once you get the basic abbreviations down!

  5. I learned like you, and went patternless forever. In college I bought a stitch book and did two rows Od each pattern on a blanket for my BF now hubby! I learned soooooo much, but that was one UGLY blanket! Welcome to the wonderful world of patterns! Love the hat, and the little model is stunning!
