Diaper Cake

I know, I know. EVERYONE knows what a diaper cake is and how to make one.

That's cool.

I'm just here to show you one I made :)

These were taken Pre-Blog, so they are not the best quality-  but I still loved how this cake came out, so I am sharing anyways! {notice my Dollar Store bag in the back. lol. Oops!}

I attached Paci's and rattles and various baby toys to each tier. And all the flowers are roses made from baby socks!

{that is cat food on the floor, not bugs. Just thought I should clarify!}

Sometimes a simple diaper cake is the perfect centerpiece for a shower.

I also like to put a bottle of Champagne in the center and bring one to the new mom at home :)

You can make these elaborate or simple, but I think they are always gorgeous.

If I am not in the mood to make a whole diaper cake, a Diaper Wreath is just as cute {and actually more unique!}

That is all. Nothing show stopping on diaper cakes, just wanted to share one of mine! :)

Meet The Baby Gift

Do you guys remember the crochet baby gift I made for my BFF's baby shower?

Well, BFF had her baby! A sweet little girl named Macy! She is adorable!

I always like to give a little "meet the baby" after the baby has arrived. Nothing big, just a cute little something special for the baby.

For baby Macy I decided to make her a faux necklace onsie with a couple matching hair bows! {TUTORIAL HERE}

CUTE huh?

I used the same technique from my previous tutorial for the flower as well. I love the little bits of tulle sticking out!

Had to add some matching inter-changeable hair bows for the newborns head :)

All together I think they make an adorable gift! And I even had a package of plain white onsies on hand, so it didn't cost me anything! :)

I brought it over to BFF last week and she loved it! I can't wait to see sweet baby Macy in her stylish new onsie! :)

Here are my kiddos holding Macy for the first time. Sam was in LOVE with her. All she wanted to do was sit on the couch and hold her. It was so sweet!

And surprisingly, Sadie was pretty in love with Macy too! She threw a fit when I picked the baby back up! It was pretty funny!

Awww- LOVE newborns!! So cute!!!

*If you paid attention, in the post about her shower gift I called the baby "Maya" and in this post I called her "Macy"... they changed her name at the last minute! Good thing I didn't make her anything with her name on it! LOL*

Baby Shower Gift for my BFF

Remember my post about those super cute baby booties? {here}

Well, the BFF's shower was this past weekend so I was finally able to give her her gift!

I LOVED how they all came out and she seemed to as well!

I am always nervous giving a handmade gift... what if the person looks at it and thinks it is hideous?! LOL that thought is always in the back of my mind when I give a handmade gift! But, I still love to give handmade things whenever I can!

Now I can't wait for baby Maya to get here and try on her new hat and shoes :)

Crochet Baby Booties

My BFF is pregnant with her second little girl and she is due in the beginning of June. So I knew I needed to make her something cute!

(So, um, Lindsey- if you are reading this... STOP NOW!)

Did you stop???

OK- we should be good!
{Funny this is if she is reading this, I know she didn't stop. LOL. She is doesn't care if the surprise is ruined! We are HORRIBLE at telling each other what we got before we give it to the other person!}

I found the store The Lovely Crow on Etsy and fell in LOVE with her shoe patterns!

She has the CUTEST patterns in her shop!

I mean seriously, how cute are these? And these are just a few of the patterns she has!

PDF Crochet Pattern Package. All four booties. Ribbon Maryjanes, Teaparty Maryjanes, Little Mister Loafers, Little Prince Loafers.

I purchased this one and it was SO easy! Her pattern were super clear and easy to follow. I am still kinda-sorta-new to following patterns, and I had no trouble with this one at all!

How cute are those?!

I L-O-V-E how they turned out!

I think I am going to change out the ribbon though, I just used what I had on hand. I think I am going to look for a cute polka dot ribbon to add some charm!

If you are in need for a cute baby shoe pattern {and I mean, really, every baby needs these shoes! I am excited to make a pair for my baby now!} I suggest checking out The Lovely Crow.  She was a pleasure to work with, and emailed the pattern to me within an hour- no joke.

I hope my BFF likes these shoes!

As always I am linking up to these great parties

Baby Shower Decorations

A couple years ago my BFF was hosting a shower for one of our other friends. She asked me to help with some of the decorations and of course I jumped on the chance! I LOVE parties. LOVE. THEM. I would throw a party weekly if I could. I love planning parties. I love going to parties. I love parties! :) I mean, how could you not? Good friends, good food, good times! Anyhoo- back to this party. There really wasn't a theme for this party, just a general shower for a baby boy.

For the centerpieces I made roses with baby socks and attached them to a stem. *I used silk flower stems- just pick the flower off (save it of course- you can use those in TONS of projects!) and then attached my sock rose with floral tape. I put them in a vase with live greenery and babies breath.

And for the mom-to-be I made her a special little corsage to wear

And then for the dessert table I made some cupcake onsies. I placed them in silicone cupcake tins, but you could of course just use regular ol' cupcake wrappers

Photobucket

I also made some washcloth lollipops and washcloth candies (The little blue things- those have washcloths in them).

After the shower the mom-to-be was able to take all of them home and it doubled as part of her gift from me. She LOVED it. And BFF and I killed two birds with one stone- party decor AND a gift! Can't beat that!!

Baby Shower Gift Basket

Might as well finish up the week with the conclusion on the baby shower gifts I have been posting about for the last two days. First in this post I showed you the bow hangers I made. Super cute and relatively easy to make. And they have the WOW factor for sure! Everyone at the shower will be oo-ing and aw-ing over them. Promise. I know. :) And then in this post I showed you the diaper wreaths I made for the moms-to-be. Just like the bow holders- these will be a hit! And you can really customize them with any colors and decorate them with any baby item.

So to go along with my bow holders, I made each mom (this was a baby shower for sisters, both having girls a month apart from each other) some bows and headbands to go on the holders. I know, I know. Genius right?

I wanted the headbands to show more than they would if they were on the holder, so I rolled a blanket and placed all the headbands on that. It made it easier for the mom-to-be to see all the different headbands, plus it incorporated another gift.

(Please forgive all the pictures in this post. I took these before I knew I would be posting them on a blog! And of course I gave the items away, so I can't really take new ones!)

I knew I was making a gift basket with all the goodies, so I needed one more hand made item for the basket. Travel wipe cases are so... blah. So why not pretty it up? Any mom would love to pull a super cute wipe case out of the diaper bag. They are so cute you forget you are getting it out to clean up poop. Well, maybe they aren't that cute! LOL!

After I made them I put everything in a cute basket that matched each nursery. I also had one item from the registry and one cute little sweater in each basket.

Notice something totally out of place? The bright pink polka dot wipe case? LOL. Not sure why I did it in that fabric because it totally didn't match. So I whipped up another one real quick using the purple and green colors, and kept the pink polka dot one for myself! :)

I don't like to brag, but I am pretty sure my gift was the favorite gift from the day! *wink*

Diaper Wreaths

Since I shared my bow holders yesterday, I figured I should just carry on the baby gift theme in today’s post. When I go to baby showers I like to buy one essential off the registry, and then hand make a few gifts for the mom-to-be and baby. I will usually package it all up in a cute basket that can also be used for storage in the baby's room. If I know the nursery colors it makes it easy to find something that will look good out on display.

Most of the showers I attend (and last year alone I went to 4 in a 3 month span!) have the diaper raffle game. Bring a pack of diapers, get a raffle ticket. Pretty simple. But a package of diapers is just so boring not that appealing. So I like to spruce up the diapers and make them into something. I was on a diaper cake kick a couple years ago, but I wanted something different. So I decided to make a wreath with the diapers! Still gives the mom a ton of diapers and it is much cuter than just a plain pack of diapers! I add on a few essentials like socks, wash cloths, mini soaps and lotions. Fun and easy! It is always a hit!

See these roses? Those are baby socks rolled up!

This shower was a double shower for sisters so I made them each a wreath with their nursery colors. I just added a little wood letter in the baby's initial and painted it in the nursery colors and hung it in the center. (And yes, these moms were the recipients of the bow holders from the previous post! See the color theme carried throughout each gift?)

Simple and adorable.
