I don’t know about you guys, but as a full time working mom, the weekends are when I cram in most of my crafting. Monday-Friday I leave my house at the insane time of 5:15 am (actually, 5:12 but who’s looking) and I usually don’t get back home until around 4:30 or 5 at night. And if I have errands to run its even later than that. Then I get home, cook dinner, bathe kids, play for awhile and I pretty much crash the second the kids do. (I do have husband, LOL. His hours are just later than mine so he isn’t around in the evenings to help) I usually try to squeeze in a run a few times a week too. So needless to say, I don’t have *that* much time for crafts during the week. But don’t get me wrong, I still try to do something. Take last night for instance. I placed the Cricut on the kitchen table (because I don’t have a craft room. *insert pity party here*) and set it up to cut what I needed. While it did it’s job, I played with the kids! Stopping to switch out paper and hit cut again. And did you know that the Cricut babysits kids can make a toddler sit still? It really can. Its an amazing thing that Cricut.
Anyhoodles~ back to the point of this post. Weekends. Ahhhh the weekend. Most people love it because it is a time to relax. I love it because I know I will have a few precious hours with sleeping kids so I can get some crafts done without either a baby in my arms or a toddler hanging off my leg. Phew. Nap times are priceless I tell you. Priceless.
To prepare for my weekend, I like to make a 2-day 2-do list. All the things I *hope* to get done over those precious 2 days. Do I get to everything? Usually not. LOL. But its the thought that counts, right? And if I have my list, I tend to stick to just those projects instead of starting up another one five.
As I mentioned in a previous post, party planning is in full swing at my house right now. I *might* have bitten off more than I can chew, but I am rolling with it. I have been working every free second I have to get everything done. So far I am doing pretty well! I still have this weekend, and next weekend. The following weekend, February 27 to be exact, is THE party day! (oh WAIT! I just looked at a calendar… I actually have THREE more weekends! Holy Smokes that’s amazing news! I should check calendars more often!!) So exciting and nerve wracking at the same time!! I am planning on making most of the decorations myself. As well as a few other things. *Fingers crossed it all comes together!*
So this weekends 2-do list is pretty much preparing for the party. Without further a-do (is that even how you spell that?? Spell check isn’t giving me the big red squiggly line so it might just be right… looks funny though) HERE is my 2-day 2-do list!
- Make the tutu
- Make the appliqué shirt (this should be funny. I have never made one before. Not sure it is going to come out. Oh and have I mentioned I don’t sew? Well, I don’t. I have a sewing machine though, that’s gotta count for something…)
- Finish the Happy Birthday banner
- Make the tissue paper sign (this should be CUTE when complete!)
- Finish the gumball topiary (this IS cute. OMG I love it!!!)
- Make the party hat for the Princess Birthday girl
I think that should keep my precious naptime hours filled. Especially since Sunday is SUPERBOWL!! Woot Woot!!! Although, I am not a fan of either team this year, I still enjoy the commercials game, food and friends! Should be a great weekend!
What is on YOUR weekend 2-day 2-do list?
