How To Make a Ribbon Wrapped Headband

Happy Monday!

I am actually super tired (thanks to a 6 month old who wanted to be up crying all night!) and kinda crabby… but I’m trying to get into a better mood!

I wanted to share with you a quick and easy tutorial (which really, I don’t think this project needs one, but I took pics so you are getting one) on making a ribbon wrapped headband.

Here is what you need. (let me preface this by saying I was trying to take pictures in the manual mode on my new fancy camera- and clearly I don’t know what I am doing. LOL)

  • Felt
  • Ribbon
  • lighter
  • headbands
  • silk flower
  • hot glue gun

I got my headbands from the dollar store. A pack of 6 for a buck! Can’t beat that!

First you are going to want to cut off the fabric that is currently on the headband. Just cut the tip and the headband will come right out.

Next take your ribbon. I used 3/8 in grosgrain ribbon. Put a little hot glue on the edge of the headband and attach your ribbon.

Then wrap, and wrap, and wrap. When you get to the other end, attach with a little more hot glue. I use the lighter to heat seal all ends of the ribbon to prevent fraying

Now you can take your silk flower and using hot glue, attach it to the headband.

Now take a little patch of felt and attach it to the back of the flower and headband

And that’s it! Isn’t it cute?

The look the hubby got when he made a, how do I put this nicely…. not-so-funny comment

  1. Very cute! I wouldn't have thought to heat-seal the ends. Found you thru SugarBee.
